In celebration of Nurses Week, we asked a few members of our nursing staff to share what they love most about being a nurse at CHOC Children’s. Here’s what they told us:
Cassandra Maxwell, clinical nurse, hematology/oncology unit
Kendall Quick, clinical nurse, neuroscience unit
Monique Pena, clinical nurse, pediatric intensive care unit
Sheila Paris, nursing supervisor
Dana Moran, charge nurse, outpatient infusion center
Pernilla Fridolfsson, clinical nurse, PICC team
Tayler Key, clinical nurse, medical unit
- The 7-month-old’s daily music therapy sessions in the NICU, conducted in tandem with occupational therapy, have helped her make progress on clinical goals.
- The emergency department at CHOC Children’s Hospital is one of only three emergency departments in Calif. to be named a 2017 Lantern Award recipient.
- As a child Monica would visit her mom, a registered nurse at CHOC, on lunch breaks. Today she works alongside her.
